Boston Convention & Exhibition Center Expansion Plans and Community Input

BK Boley of ADD Inc kindly hosted. ADD Inc is involved in some of the preliminary planning for the expansion.

1. Senator Hart was introduced and made some useful comments, which included:

  • The desire to work more closely with the community and promise to approve the legislation only when he and the community were comfortable with the plan.
  • · Work to prevent the “Innovation district” from changing the unique character of Fort Point.

2. Representative Nick Collins was introduced and supports the community’s open dialog with the BCEC regarding the expansion.

100 Acres Plan Meeting

Title: 100 Acres Plan Meeting
Location: 10 Channel Center Street, 2nd floor Boston
Description: The community open space 100 Acres Plan meeting with just the neighborhood has been scheduled for Jan 30th at 6:30 on the second floor of 10 Channel Center. We thank Commonwealth Ventures for providing this venue for the meeting. Residents of the community familiar with the 100 Acres Plan and Seaport planning process will provide an update and facilitate further discussion. This meeting is focused on the 100 Acres Plan and open space/public realm issues (including parks, dog runs and tot lots.)

Description: The Proponent filed a Notice of Project Change
proposing to change the phasing and size of the previously approved project.
49/51 Melcher Street is now proposed to be two separate projects, one located at 51 Melcher Street (Phase II) and another at 49 Melcher Street
(Phase III). The previously-approved rooftop addition and two infill additions are to be eliminated. Phase 1 located at 63 Melcher Street is to remain unchanged except for using less basement space as gross floor area.
